The Process

Let us walk you through our paver restoration process.
“The Cleaning & Sealing Process”
If the pavers are relatively new, are in good shape, and don’t require any repairs, the cleaning and sealing is a two-step process. If repairs need to be made and the jointing sand needs to be replaced, however, it will take four separate visits to complete the paver restoration project. This sequence illustrates a typical application.

Meeting with a Specialist

When you contact Paver Care & Repair, one of our Hardscape Protection Specialists will gather your information, explain the process, and set up an appointment to meet at your property. When on site, the specialist will measure your paved areas, assess what repairs should be made, identify any stains to be removed, and discuss with you the various sealers that can be applied. A proposal will then be presented for your review. Depending on the scope of your paver restoration project, you should be prepared to spend at least an hour of your time with our representative.

Replacing Sand & Sealing

If your pavers have mason sand in the joints and you wish to replace it with polymeric sand, each part of the four-step process requires a separate visit by our technicians:

STEP 2

After the pavers have completely dried, the polymeric sand is swept and tamped several times to be sure that the joints have been completely filled. The excess is then swept clean and a mist of water is slowly applied to activate the polymer binder in the sand. This begins the “curing” process of the paver restoration. (You may walk on the pavers once the joints have dried.)

STEP 3

Now that the polymeric sand is cured, our technicians return to perform a quick cleaning of the surface to remove any accumulated dirt or polymer residue. (The pavers must be completely dry before the sealer can be applied.)

STEP 4

Usually after a day or two, if the weather permits, our technicians return to apply the sealer. You can resume normal activity on the pavers within 24 hours.

Specialized power washing equipment removes all of the old sand. (Remember: polymeric sand cannot be applied over any other sand.)

Cleaning & Sealing Only
If you already have polymeric sand installed and no repairs need to be made, the cleaning and sealing is a two-step process.

STEP 1

The pavers are thoroughly cleaned using a special cleaner that prepares the surface for the sealer. We will remove any stains such as rust, paint, or grease at this time.

STEP 4

Once the pavers dry completely, our technicians return to apply the sealer. You can resume normal activity on the pavers within 24 hours of your paver restoration.
